Final rocks
in place at Stallingborough
A Jackson team has completed the placement of rock armour for a major coastal defence scheme along the Humber estuary’s south bank.
Almost 90,000t of rock have been placed on a 4.5km stretch of sea wall near Stallingborough since the project started in June 2023. Completion of this stage marks a key milestone in the scheme, being carried out on behalf of the Environment Agency.
The rock has been delivered in barges, each carrying 4,500 tonnes, from Oban on the West coast of Scotland direct to Immingham docks – a short distance from where the Stallingborough coastal defences are being constructed.
Other works will now continue over the coming winter period including site remediations and preparing access ready for the culvert outfall works commencing in Spring next year.
