Jackson donates 2000 tonnes of type 1 to east London community project

Jackson has been involved in a charity project to build a new multi-use games area at a community youth hub, Ambition Aspire Achieve in the London Borough of Newham.

The Terence Brown Arc AAA's flagship adventure play, sports and youth hub providing a Newham-wide delivery and resource base for young people with disabilities and/or additional needs and their families.

Jackson donated 2000 of type 1 material to the project which was managed by MACE and funded by donations from Jackson and 14 other construction suppliers, along with the London Borough of Newham Council, and the London Legacy Development Corporation.

Kevin Jenkins OBE, founder of Ambition Aspire Achieve said: “The difference the new all-weather games and sports area has made is simply incredible. We can now organise sports and games year-round whatever the weather, and during the dark evenings too. The new access paths enable our children who use wheelchairs and/or have mobility difficulties to access the court and play with their peers. The quality of what we can now offer has improved and we can actively involve greater numbers too.”

“Everyone at AAA and The Arc send their sincere thanks to all the supporting contractors for making this possible – you are making a real positive permanent difference for the areas most disadvantaged, vulnerable and at risk children. Thank you.”

Jackson’s Contracts Director, Rupert Chitty said: “We’re really pleased we’ve been able to help on this project. It really goes to show what can be achieved when contractors work together, and MACE have done a fantastic job getting everyone involved.”

Mace Group’s Associate Director, Jon Davies said: “The response from contractors, consultants and suppliers has been phenomenal, and Jackson’s contribution has been key in getting it off the ground. We’re really pleased with the result.”

The facility was officially opened in April by comedian, actor and writer Ricky Grover, a patron of the AAA charity.
