The works were conducted in phases to minimise disruption with the first phase focusing around Gravesend station. The existing one-way road was re-aligned and widened to form a two-way road and new junctions were also constructed. The station concourse was redesigned to incorporate a drop-off point, disabled parking and new taxi rank. New pedestrian crossings, street lighting and signage schemes were incorporated within the scheme.
The Jackson team was also involved in a host of social value activities led by our Stakeholder Liaison Officer. During the project, Jackson and Gravesham Borough Council (GBC) teamed up with local schools and businesses to brighten up the area around the site compound by undertaking a street art project depicting 500 years of Gravesend’s history. The initiative linked with an exciting heritage project that GBC was overseeing in the town.
