A key feature of this project was the activities of Jackson’s public liaison officer who successfully engaged with residents and businesses affected by the works. Several public meetings were held before the Covid lockdown while a weekly e-mail kept stakeholders up-to-date with the progress of the project, including the 60 or so businesses on nearby Bolney Grange Business Park.

Jackson went above and beyond to help some local stakeholders: instigating a design change to install a bell mouth entrance onto the road for one farmer; planting established hedgerows to mitigate noise impact for another resident, as well providing some excess asphalt from the project to plug potholes on people’s drives and private roads.
