Health and Safety Lead

Location: Ipswich

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety Lead to work as part of our QHSE Team, based out of our Head Office in Ipswich. Travelling to various sites is essential for this role so a full UK driving licence will be needed. The main purpose of this role is to support the QHSE & Business Improvement Director with the day to day health & safety advice and support across the company.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting the QHSE & Business Improvement Director with both strategic and operational health & safety initiatives
Leading operational health & safety support and being the key point of contact for operational health & safety matters
Managing a team of health & safety advisors
Promoting compliance with our QHSE policies and company procedures
Leading on incident investigation and recommend actions to prevent recurrence
Promoting a positive QHSE culture across the sites, seeking best practice at every opportunity
Leading and supporting the development of company health & safety related procedures
Working in partnership with our operations team
Building excellent working relationships with our clients and partners
Driving positive QHSE behaviours

Skills Required

The ideal Health & Safety Lead must hold a NEBOSH qualification, and be a member of IOSH or IIRSM
Must have in-depth knowledge and experience of health & safety and an ability to engage, influence and persuade at all levels.
A pragmatic approach to health & safety combined with excellent communication skills are essential for this role as you will be required to communicate with all operations at all levels across the business.
Although the role is predominantly health & safety based, knowledge and experience of both Quality and Environmental systems and standards would be an advantage along with construction or civil engineering experience.
Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK.
